Class Environmental Assessment Process

This Detail Design is following the approved planning process for a Group “B” project under the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (2000), with opportunity for public input throughout.

A Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) was completed as part of the preliminary design for the larger study Moira/Ridge Road Intersection Improvements and Rawdon Creek Structure Replacement (URS, 2014). As a result, the MTO was granted Environmental Clearance for the technically preferred solution to be carried out in two phases.

A Public Information Centre (PIC) will be held during this study to provide the public with the opportunity to discuss the project and provide input to the Project Team. Notification of the times and location of the PIC will be mailed to those on the consultation contact list.

Phase 1 of the project was carried out at an earlier date and included Rawdon Creek Bridge replacement and Highway 62 improvements from Wilson Road to north of the Ridge/Moira Road intersection. Phase 2, which is being addressed under the current project, includes Highway 62 and Ridge/Moira Road intersection improvements.

A Design and Construction Report (DCR) will be prepared detailing the existing biophysical and socio-economic environment, summary of design features, potential impacts of the undertakings, and required mitigation measures.

The DCR will be placed on file with the MTO for a 30-day public review period once complete. There is no opportunity for bump-up and provided that there are no significant concerns during the review then the project may proceed to construction without further notice. You are encouraged to Contact Us if you have any questions or concerns about this study.
